Genre Fiction Experiments with GPT

These are experiments in producing genre narratives using the earliest public releases of GPT and ChatGPT. I was primarily interested in how a human author could manipulate basic narrative conventions embedded in the model to extract what it knew about particular styles, and how iterative dialogic prompting could improve the stories as they unfolded. I ran a test update of one of the stories “The Sensitive Assassin” with GPT5 in 2025, and created an experimental audio book.
